Duct Sealing for Munroe Lane Auckland Council Building

Duct sealing for Munroe Lane office building in Auckland

LIMS Aeroseal had the opportunity to do two duct sealing jobs at the Auckland Council Building on Munroe Lane. This job was quite significant because the Auckland Council is striving to make this a Green Building with six Green Stars.

The first job on this building went really well and the graph shows the kind of pretty picture I love putting in front of clients. We achieved a 91% improvement in airtightness which is great. Using an operating pressure of 500 pascals it is rare to get leakage under 5L/s but on this occasion we snuck in!

We then moved to the third floor for the second job. The Aeroseal process was successfully carried out on the duct system, reducing the initial leakage of 16L/s to 5L/s.  This represents a 68.75% reduction in duct leakage, which will lead to improved HVAC system efficiency, lower energy costs, and improved indoor air quality.

Overall, the aeroseal process has been successful in achieving its goal of reducing duct leakage, and we recommend that this solution be considered for future duct sealing projects.

In this picture above, this shows the sealant beginning to cling to the side of the hole.

Thank you very much for the opportunity to work with Aquaheat on this job.

We look forward to many such opportunities.
