AIRTIGHTNESS IMPROVED BY 99% AT MICROSOFT BUILDING, VIADUCT HARBOUR, AUCKLAND

Achieving 99% reduction in duct leakage at Microsoft, Auckland.

Bright and early on Saturday, December 10, myself and my tech Al arrived onsite at the Microsoft Building in Auckland's Viaduct Harbour. We were met by Ajay of McAlpine Hussmann; our first job with him and I certainly hope there are more to follow. The prep work done by Ajay and his team was exemplary and led to our fastest/smoothest/best result to date: a 99% reduction in duct leakage. You're never going to achieve a hundred percent, this is absolutely the closest you can get and we're thrilled to say so!

The riser was 18m in height and around 780mm by 720mm. Our injection point was from level 6 which is the top storey of offices . Three phase power came from the plant room which is on the roof, one level up. As with many of our jobs, accessing the duct from the exterior was impossible without cutting through the firewall. Aeroseal is the perfect application for this scenario as once again demonstrated by our result. We selected SMACNA as the standard by which to measure ourselves hence the numbers being imperial. Initial leakage was 366cfm @ 450Pa and when we left the leakage was 4.5cfm @450Pa.

This is our fourth job for McAlpine, thank you again Talat for putting us forward

A behind the scenes look at what goes on at a LIMS-Aeroseal job. Apologies for the background noise! It does become noisy with the Aeroseal generating that fine mist that went on to block 99% of dust leakage at Microsoft! Awesome job by the Aeroseal Team.
